The Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music Presents
After Silence:
The Art of Improvisation
Tim Siciliano Trio
Tim Siciliano, guitar
Donimic Duval, bass
Brian Wilson, drums
Guitarist Tim Siciliano has been a fixture on the New York jazz scene since the 1980's. As a young player looking to expand his horizons, Tim came under the tutelage of Attila Zoller, one of the all time greats of jazz improvisation. Already schooled in the lineage of Wes Montgomery, George Benson, and Pat Martino, Tim was led by Zoller to new approaches to phrasing and harmony. Combined with his intense love and study of the music of the greats of the 40s, 50s, and 60s (most notably the Miles Davis Quintet), this approach has allowed Tim to evolve into an accomplished performer with a very personal voice among guitarists.

The Brooklyn College Theater Department Presents
Dog Sees God:
Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead
by
Burt V. Royal
Directed by Jack Savage
Dog Sees God tells the story of C.B. (Charlie Brown), a teen who has left his childhood fears and uncertainties behind. He's made the decision to fit in with his high school friends even at the expense of his natural inclination to challenge the standard way of looking at things. Life seems to be going along alright for him, until the unexpected death of his childhood pet beagle; that's when "the rain cloud returns." In this edgy comedy, the beloved Peanuts characters―now in high school―confront issues of sexuality, bullying, drug use and teen suicide.
Dog Sees God premiered in 2004 at The New York International Fringe Festival, and received many honors including Theatremania's 2004 Play Award, The GLAAD Media Excellence Award, and The 2006 HX Best Play Award. Bert V. Royal is a playwright who began his career as a casting agent for such shows as The Chapelle Show (HBO) and Third Watch (NBC). Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead is his first produced play.

The Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music Presents
A SPECIAL EVENT!
An American
Story, Part
One:
Life Before and After the Piano
James "Jabbo" Ware
Composer and Conductor
|
 |
|
The founder of the
ME, WE AND THEM ORCHESTRA,
composer/arranger/ saxophonist James "Jabbo"
Ware was born in Rome Georgia in 1942.
In the middle through late 19605, Mr.
Ware played in various rhythm and blues
bands, and composed for and performed
with BAG (the Black Artists Group of St.
Louis), among whose members were Oliver
Lake, Julius Hemphill, J.D. Parran and
Hamiett Bluiett. It was after he first
"heard" Mr. Bluiett's sound on baritone
saxophone that Mr. Ware switched to that
instrument; and it was Mr. Bluiett who
convinced him to move to New York in
1970. While a member of the CBA
Band (Collective Black Artists), and of
bands led by Frank Foster and Sam
Rivers, Mr. Ware met many of the
musicians who now make up the ME, WE AND
THEM ORCHESTRA, which he formed in 1973.
Mr. Ware's music is concerned with
telling stories based on his favorite
themes: "Where do we come from?" and
"Where are we going?" The titles
of his compositions
mean what they say, and the order in
which they are presented in concert is
always carefully planned. As Mr.
Ware explains: "At first, the audience
may not understand where I'm trying to
take them, but by the time they get
there, they'll know!"
