The Brooklyn College Theater Department Presents
A MainStage Production
of Stephen Adly Guirgis's
Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train
Directed by Mary Beth Easley
Jesus
Hopped the 'A' Train tells the
story of Angel Cruz. Angel—angry
that his best friend was brainwashed
by a cult—shoots the cult's leader.
Jailed on Riker's Island, he meets
Lucius Jenkins, a serial killer who
has found God while awaiting
extradition to Florida's death row.
Will Lucius help Angel find
redemption? This production of
Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train will
place the audience on the stage of
the Gershwin Theatre along with the
actors, allowing the theater space
to surround the spectators and
suggest that they are watching the
proceedings from the exercise yard
of a prison.
Stephen Adly Guirgis is a
playwright, actor, television
writer, and longtime member of the
New York City LAByrinth Theatre
Company. Jesus Hopped the 'A'
Train, his second play, won the
Fringe Festival Award at the
Edinburgh Festival and was nominated
for the Laurence Olivier Award for
Best New Play. His television
credits include NYPD Blue and The
Sopranos to name just a few.
Mary Beth Easley has been directing
and teaching acting in New York City
for over twenty years. Multicultural
theatre and new script development
is the primary focus of her work as
a director; she is committed to a
vision of theatre which has the
capacity to bridge cultures,
transform society and change the way
we view and live in the everyday
world. As an outreach artist and
activist, Easley has collaborated
with homeless mothers and teenagers
throughout New York City under the
sponsorship of Homes for the
Homeless and The Children's Aid
Society. A recipient of a Revson
Directing Fellowship, Easley has
been a faculty member of The Stella
Adler Conservatory of Acting, The
New American Theatre School, and the
University of Iowa. She currently
teaches in the graduate acting
program at Brooklyn College/CUNY.

From Brooklyn Center's
Community Showcase
Sunrason Films
in association with
Johnny Blacks ENT and O-Don presents
A
Brooklyn MEGA-Movie Premiere!
What Goes Round
A Film by Steve "Tehut-Nige" McAlpine
The film is
dedicated to the memory of ALTON "Raw
Dawg" ASHMAN Written & Directed by
Steve “Tehut-Nine” McAlpin, WHAT GOES
AROUND is a dramatic relationship tale
based on the adage, “You'll reap what
you sow.”
John S. Silver
is an absentee father and a wanton
womanizer whose past haunts his
conniving attempts at a second chance.
His sons Denzel and Sylvester are
complete opposites, yet they face
similar situations in their
relationships with the women in their
lives. Denzel is a hopeless romantic
whose unfaithful girlfriend leaves him
devastated with more than just a broken
heart. Sylvester, much like his father,
John, is a playboy, who gets the tables
turned on him after his girlfriend finds
out he's been cheating on her. It is a
twisted tale about male/female
relationships, layered with lots of
humor and engaging drama, that
seamlessly merges all the pieces as we
follow the emotional roller coaster ride
of each character, feeling sorry for
some, angry at others and bracing for
the outcome, because in the end, WHAT
GOES AROUND.…
