Founded in 1984 under the artistic direction of Maggi Sietsma, Expressions Dance Company is known across the globe for its highly athletic and theatrical brand of dance. This Australian company performs the New York City premiere of Score!, a new multimedia dance-theater piece inspired by Michel Fokine's ballet Petrushka and set in the insanely competitive world of reality TV. Packed with strikingly physicality, Score! incorporates live footage, video projections, and spoken word into this gripping tale of two contestants battling for the ultimate prize.

The 2009 "State of the City" Address
The Honorable Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor

Although our Mayor has presided over many of our Community Events at Brooklyn Center's Whitman Theatre, from the Police Academy Graduations to the induction of the NYC rookie Firefighters, this is the first time he has chosen Brooklyn Center to deliver his all-important "State of the City" address. 

Mayor Bloomberg delivered his eighth annual State of the City address detailing his agenda to move New York City through the national economic downturn. He outlined a three-pronged strategy to strengthen the City’s economy by creating a comprehensive job growth program, maintaining and improving quality of life and finding new efficiencies throughout city government, while also protecting core city services.
