The Brooklyn College Preparatory
Center for the Performing Arts was founded in 1978 as
the pre-college component of The Brooklyn College
Conservatory of Music, the Brooklyn College Department
of Theater and the then-existing Brooklyn College
Department of Dance. Today the Prep Center is lauded for
its highly praised, child-appropriate classes in music,
theater, and dance. Our programs are for children
beginning at age three and a half and for also adults.
We offer hands on, skills-based education, nurturing and
enabling our students to fully develop their talents.
Our caring, professional faculty are experienced
teachers dedicated to letting each student explore their
chosen field, while teaching them the technical skills
that help to hone the individual's performance ability.
The Faculty Recitals give students
and the general public the chance to see these
dedicated, talented teachers outside the classroom
environment, playing works which are their personal
favorites. This winter recital will feature works
by Bartok and Wienawski.
